Question about which way to wire a CFL.

Ok so I've searched the forums here and have collected a few good wiring diagrams on how to do it, they all seem great, but very simple.

I have an Ultima wiring kit, which has a module and about 25+ wires coming from it, I have a feeling a can do both ways as I muck around with car wiring harnesses at work, but would prefer to go the simpler way (which by the look of the diagrams does not include the module).

So the question is what the hell is the module for? I thought since it's carby it won't need an ECU, unless it's something to do with the coil and crank (sensor?) side of things..

This is the only diagram I can find at the minute...

That looks to be for turn signals and everything. I did a basic one in mine about 5 wires. Follow this link and scroll down to "freaks" post. I did mine similar to picture #4 there.

Yeah the diagram is no problem, and thanks Darin they're the other ones I had lost before.

My real question is why the hell is the Ultima one so complicated, with the module and the mountain of wires. Like what's stopping me from just doing it the easy way.

It is like that cause it is adapted from what was existing.
Go the easy way - I am not gonna tear it up but there are parts
in the wire plus I wouldn't use.

Ohhh, "From what was existing", do you mean like a replacement wiring harness for a harley?

So far the easy way is winning.. I just need to find a flasher unit for my indicators.

Awesome man, is that first pic a relay?

The fuse box looks neat as.

Decided today fuck the Ultima harness, less wires = less problems, so the easy harness it is. Just need to find a flasher unit? A fuse box like Donovan posted and perhaps a relay for the starter motor.

No relay needed, it's built in to the module which is approximately the size of a relay.

This would be a flasher if you have LED lights.

Also, as a tip/suggestion, if you want to wire a CFL, it needs to be grounded at the starter, not the frame.

Yes, it's a module.
Here's a schematic of it.

Dude that's awesome, thanks heaps, massive help. I'm excited to get into that now.

As for ground on the starter, a thick gauge wire with an eyelet connector, put onto a starter motor mounting bolt will be fine, right? Will I need to rub off the chrome?
