First ride questions about my cfl
I am running hellbents with traditional cfl oil bag and 113 s&s. My right leg(underneath) gets so hot from (i guess oil in the tank and exhaust?) that when i shut it off I can't sit on it even long enough to roll to park. When riding, and it only in 70s, i can feel the heat but the wind keeps it cool enough to ride. Can't imagine riding it in 95 degrees. Is this normal?

But Ahh, its a CFL .... to look COOL you have to pay the price.
In all seriousness, nothing unusual...pipes get hot, oil gets hot...just part of riding a motorcycle. And yes, wait till its 95 or so out, then you can show your true biker spirit by riding that rolling oven around. Thats why on days of extreme heat, I'm glad I own a car with air conditioning.

I have owned several bikes and it rides awesome. It blows my big dog hardtail away on comfort. Just a little hotter than what i have noticed with my other bikes. Just wondering if i had a problem.

is it running good? I'm sure the little short pipes blowing out right under your thigh dont help matters much. Are you running synthetic oil? Less friction, less heat...

Just kidding,.......it's always been a complaint with most choppers with an oil tank located right under your thigh,....including the CFL. I have small heat shields by WCC for the Hell Bents that are right where your leg goes over them,........but there's not much you can do with the oil tank.

yea hot as hell... I was at sturgis a few years back.... all the stop go stop go resulted in some pretty burnt legs lol... I think the smaller oil bag does not help much either.

Could try running an oil cooler and a bigger oil filter, put bitron oil in it that will drop temp down to.

Lucky you didn't go with the WCC FU pipes they heat up your leg as you ride. I made that mistake once. And yes CFL oil tanks do get hot, but who cares the bikes are cool as hell.

Screw it, wear shorts when you ride like I do. Got myself a "fresh" burn on the inside of my calf from my V&H pipes....first time in 8 years of owning it.
