I've heard of other guys do this, and couldn't understand why they'd fill all the fluids, set everything up to ride, then have to strip to paint. plus i don't final torque everything during mockup either, just want to make sure stuff fits. I want to be able to torque everything down once and leave it, especially things like locknuts that you in theory should only use once anyway.

i do see the logic in the fact that if you are not confident the clearances, etc. will be right, saves having to do metal work and repaint later, but usually just a rear fender at that point. personal choice i guess.

Sheridon, yeah you're right, the indicators are too far forward, the engineer even said so after I emailed him the photos. But for rego I will have a longer rear fender, with brake light, and indicators either side of that, with the plate holder and reflectors and all that gay jazz. But I still want indicators after rego, mainly to let fuckers on the road know where I'm going.

Only problem there is I need an LED flasher unit for after rego, and a normal flasher unit for rego.

Axey, I agree, I'm pretty confident with everything on the frame, I dont see anything that will cause me to have to repaint.

only time i ever had to cut after painted assy was a trim on a rear fender because of suspension travel, but you don't even have that to worry about, so let 'er buck!

Got the call on Friday that paint was ready, went down today after work and had a look and picked up the tins, It's more gold that I thought it would be, but I still think it looks cool as, especially the fuel tank! I may skip pin stripe and leave it as it is, as pin stripe may look over kill...

Can't wait to see it in the sun.

Very nice. just my $0.02, i'd hesitate on the pinstripe if it were me. It's a nice understated look right now (no purples and oranges) and a pin stripe might look out of place on it. if it were a color matching the tones of what's on there, it might work though. Your call of course, you get to ride it!

side note, i notice you don't have a front fender sitting there. Do you put a fork stabilizer on that thing to make sure the front stays solid? what are your forks? 2 or 4" O.S.?

The forks arn't that long, the front fender is in the ground, it's black also, but I'm only running it for registration. I couldn;t tell you the exact specs of the forks, they're 0 degree rake I know that..

And yeah still iffy about Pin Stripe, at this stage I probably won't do it, except for where the gold meets the black, a single gold stripe there may be needed to make it look better.

was just curious. one customer's bike i built was 10" O.S. with fender, and after we put the fork brace on, he said it drove like a completely different (better) bike. i didn't use a fork stab on the rigid bike w/ stock tubes i think, but on the stripper bike with 6" O.S. and no fender, i used a brace too.

not sure what experience you've got in pinstriping, but if you're not well-versed, taping out a stripe is much easier than laying a stripe by hand with a brush. i've done both, but never got great at doing by hand. just make sure the surface is smooth before you do either, i.e. no step between the colors, or that step will show terrible through the pinstripe.

one pinstriping i did by hand, orange around the letters.

Thanks man, you'll have to see it in the flesh, the color changes depending what direction your looking at it, Hopefully picking it up tomorrow then start on the wiring harness. I'm actually really looking forward to it. Lets see if I regret those words by Sunday...
