Looks like Daytech just uses a different trans plate than wcc. In addition to a different oil bag mount. Good info here, Its To bad Aussiechop was the ginnipig to have to find it out. And no that's not just shimming mate, that trans plate needs to be cut straight.
|
Yeah it's a bit of a hurdle but I guess that's what it's all about. It's stupid that Daytech have this style oil bag mount & this big trans plate but to me it's still the coolest looking frame I've ever seen. Is your frame an OG? (very nice bike btw)

Thanks to the member here: El Skitzo, he hooked me up with a great welder and finally got my seat mounted in a more respectable way, and also some of the welds neatened up too. I may grind the back of the 2 rear tabs to make it flow a bit better, instead of them just sticking out out like that, and while we were mounting the seat we found another imperfection with the frame which I will post here, which even though it may make people think the frame is shit, I'm still going to post just so people know what they're buying if they do decide to go for a DAYTECH CFL.
Personally, if it wasn't pointed out to me (we had problems getting the seat dead center), I probably wouldn't have noticed it, and I didn't notice it when the seat was mounted on the back tube, so I doubt anyone is going to notice it in person, the seat is sitting cool now anyway.
Ok so what we found:
Not sure the correct name for the 2 tubes coming off the back tube, but you can see the one on the right is welded onto the frame like 2 or 3mm higher than the left, and the oil tank mounting tab is welded kind of off center too. So when we mounted the seat and looked at it from behind, it looked like the seat was way left because of the tube on the right was sticking out a tiny bit further than on the left. Even though we mounted the tabs dead center in the oil tank mount.
We ended up messing around with the front tabs a tiny bit, and got it pretty even, it's kind of hard to explain using pictures here.
He also re aligned the rear indicator tabs as the shop that put them on didn't put them on in line with each other, retards...
So now just waiting for my ignition barrel housing from EYECANDY.

I wouldn't worry about it man, I had to cut off my oil tank mount and reposition it too on my shop frame, It was welded on crooked and made the bag sit way off center. So have others.

Hell yeah, must have missed it when I got home, but the last bit came today that needs to be welded on!
Thanks to EYECANDYCUSTOMS for this awesome barrel housing, looks dope as. It fits perfect on the seat post, but I'm not sure if I'll mount it there (a few people have said heat would be a problem with the barrel and wiring over time), I thought under the rear of the seat (that cross beam) would be cool. I'll talk to my welder when I go see him and I'm sure we'll find a cool way of doing it.

It is very cool. My plan is to drill a hole in the seat post for the wiring and then have it exit out under the rear engine mount, towards the underside of the trans where all my wiring will be. Should work out great.
Messing around today with my sprung seat, and how I'm going to mount it so it can be an easy switch. Tell me what you think or if you have any ideas. Before you ask, I NEED a sprung seat to be able to pass rego here.
My plan here is to mount the front of the seat with a bolt on clamp that will go over the back tube, I already have the clamp and it fit's perfect and looks neat.
The rear will look abit more crappy, as you can see, My spring housing pretty much fits perfect on the 2 tabs that have been welded on, so I may try source some small U bolts, and elongate the hole on the spring mount tab, and join them that way..

Hopefully all the welding is DONE now. Although Sheridon (el Skitzo) mentioned about the inner struts for the rear fender, I haven't welded mine on as I didn;t think I'd need them, but now I think I may.
I just want to welding part to be fucking over already. The one thing I can't do is holding me up for weeks.

I was wondering how you were going to make a sprung seat work with those seat mounts, and that's a pretty good solution. I'll have to keep that in mind if I get pinged with a canary and sent back over the pits.

Yeah I'm still sorting out the small details with the 2 rear tabs, some sort of U bolt or U clamp will work, It'll look shit ugly, but as long as it passes.
Good to see you today bro, bike sounds awesome, there was an open house across the street too when you took off, should have seen the looks they gave haha.
