I wonder what precipitated this sale? I heard from an X insider 6 months ago that he didn't think either Big Dog or Big Bear would be releasing 2010 models and now here we are getting into November and still no "New models" press releases from either company and no events posted for 2010 for either Mo Co. Is it possible that this is a move to get rid of some HD inventory before even more big bikes are dumped into an already saturated market? Does anyone know when these companies usually announce their new model years?

Rossmeyer always does a big sale after both bikeweek and biketoberfest. Mostly trades from new bike sales during the events. Usually they do it over at Daytona auto auction for dealers only but in this economy I doubt many dealers will be looking for as many used bikes. Prolly just a new way to sell off those bikes traded at the events.

Well that is good news. You think there will be any upper end late model touring bikes going for under 12K? Here they only seem to care about year and styling. So high miles and no warranty are fine as long as the price is right.

Ya I'd think they might go in that neighborhood if they a a couple years old. Depends on the response the auction gets but I think that is all the money they will sell for right now.

So do you think it is safe to buy now and you don't see any additional big bikes entering the market through auction? I love the prices I am seeing now but I'm a bit hesitant that if some other companies lose their financing and go belly up that would mean even more big twins on a market with few buyers and prices spiraling downward.

I think that if you stick with Harleys you will be safe. I dont see the Big Dog or the Big Bears effecting the used Harley market. You cannot give away a used custom bike in the market today. I just saw a guy buy a 2006 Big bear for 7k....He flipped it right away for 9k and the guy he sold it to put it on ebay for 11k and sold it in 3 days. But I had a newer bike here on consignment that only brought 9k at the auction. He didnt sell it obviously.

What I am trying to say is although the HD market is soft its still much stronger than the Low volume custom bike manufacturers by far.

Never liked any auction that has hidden reserves...Usually it is just a way for the dealer to go phishing for potential buyers...You dont get the bike during the auction but you will get a phone call after wanting to make a deal.

Yep totally true these aren't private sellers setting a reserve so this is just another way for the dealership to sell some bikes. Not sure if there will be that many bargains but it's always possible.

really those dirty bastards......It reads like it should be a no reserve auction in the opening monlogue. I couldn't see Rossmeyer doing that most dealer auctions all have reserves
