shocks versus springs what is better?

Just looking for anyones input into all the shocks that are available out there. Have you tried these shocks? from what company ? and how are they working? for myself they seem to be a bit stiff compared to a spring that takes up equal space.

What kind of shocks are you talking about? Coilovers? Hidden Softail style? Air Ride?

Softail shocks do not begin to approximate the ride quality of a true suspension shock, such as a coilover or air shock

Progressive Suspension offers good bang for the buck.. they have them all

Damn I feel stupid should have mentioned that, I am asking rigid riders about seat shocks and seat springs. See I am trying to figure out a way to get a softer ride on a rigid without having the seat up 7 inches tall on some bouncy ass springs.

air ride is the way to go. between seat shocks and springs, shocks are gonna be the better ride because they dampen out the oscliations of the spring. if you don't want to feel like you are riding a pogo stick go with shocks, or go with springs and adapt a friction shock. just my opinion.
