Petcock bung relocation

I have a sportster tank which has the petcock location on the left about middle of the tank, I mounted the tank angled higher in the front so the petcock needs to be relocated towards the back of the tank. My question is should I cut the old bung out and relocate it towards the back, or install a new bung in the back and cap off the old bung, cut it out or what? Thanks in advance!

I'd cut out the old one, weld a patch over the hole and then weld up the new one back at the back, just way cleaner overall in my opinion. Of course you could do something cool though too if you ran just an L fitting with clear fuel line from the upper fitting to the lower fitting, creating a visual gas gauge. Johnny Chop has done that on a couple of bikes and I thought it was a cool idea on bikes with tanks on a steep angle.

Just my $.25 though,
