I'm Down!!

Hey all, I'm wondering should I even attempt to build a bike? I've read people's horror stories about registering their bikes and insuring them. I don't wanna spend all that time and money on something.....then not even be able to ride it. I live in Kentucky. My plan was to build from scratch. Buy me a frame, then get a used Harley engine and tranny, but if I can't insure or register it.......should I even attempt it? What about basket cases? I'm just discouraged right now....LOL I discourage myself alot of time..LOL!

James, hit up Morrison100, a member here, and he can tell you what you need to do!
I titled mine here in Indiana and by and all it went pretty smoothly.
1 picture, MSO's for the frame, tranny case, and a copy of the bill of sale for the motor.

Kentucky is not a hard state to register in, you should have no problems. You will save a ton of money of you can find a Harley frame with a VIN number on it though. Most aftermarket frames have to be titled as "Special Construction" which makes them harder and more expensive to insure.

Not sure about Kentucky.I'm out here in California and just finished my build. Took it to the highway patrol. The officer checked my MSO for the frame and motor. Went out to a mechanic and got my brake and lamp inspection. Just make sure the your brake light works with both hand and foot brake. FYI: if your planning to use the Wireplus wiring harness dont get the chopper style. get the other one. it doesnt cover hand brake or hazards. Also I started with a roller. got it from SMW. little easier for a start.

The process was a nightmare but the result makes it totally worth it. Just be patient and be ready to drop $$$.
