Clutch adjustment on BDL

Hey guys, I'm new to this kind of spring clutch, I'm used to the old BDL clutch with the 9 springs. I'm using the same hand control (PM Hydraulic) but I'm not happy with the clutch. It doesn't disengage until I let the clutch out all most all the way. I don't like it.

I know there's not much to adjust on this, its the BDL with the ball bearings. When it was at the shop for some wiring a few weeks ago they tried to adjust it. It was a little better.

Maybe new plates would help?

I was reading in some of the Harley forums, and a lot of people end up with a bad cable causing that problem..cable is too long or short for the housing...If you are sure all adjustments have been done correctly you might look into that..your unit does have a cable ?

I never had hydraulic actuator, but I presume it,s all or nothing, not like cable where the slack can be adjusted in addition to the adjustment bolt.

However I believe , if the adjustment bolt on the pressure plate is turned out some more from the touch down( more than typical 1/4-1/2 turn), the clutch will disengage earlier when you let go lever. If you overdo that 'slack' the clutch might be dragging and it will be difficult to shift and find neutral. Play around and find a compromise, golden middle somewhere.

All or nothing seems the norm. I had the same setup on my last sled, it was a lot better then this one. I tried to adjust it and so did the shop. Its the same.

I wonder if new plates will help? Or maybe a new spring plate?

52, no cable here.

Man I t doesn't sound like plates to me..some adjustment is out of whack..It would seem that that hydraulic should have some kind of adjustment on it to fine tune your clutch adjustment..The one I had used a very short cable that went to the clutch from the unit..don't know....I will do a little googling ..

There are clutch levers that are adjustable to remedy the problem describe for a hydraulic setup.
