Frame Dimensions/Rear Wheel and Tire Size?

So, I bought a frame from someone that knew nothing about it and, consequently, I know nothing about it. From comparing pics on frame manufacturer's sites I believe it to be a Redneck Engineering "Low Curves" wide-tire rigid frame. I have 13" between the tubes where the rear wheel mounts and my question is- what size rear wheel/tire is this thing built for? From reading through the Chopper Builder's Handbook site I'm pretty sure that it's set up for a 250 but I would love some confirmation before I start buying expensive wheels...

My guess is 280 or 300 tire, is there a number stamped on the frame? If so call Redneck and give them the number, they can probably tell you what it is.

I've got a 250 frame out in the shop. I'll check and measure between the axle plates to see what it is.

No VIN on the frame, it was built before that. I'm actually thinking it may be a home-built copy of the RE frame.

Razorback, I'd really appreciate that! My original intent was to run a 180/200 and I'd hate if I've ended up with a 300 frame...

Is it RSD or LSD? It might tell you.
Unlikely that LSD would go beyond 250 tire on 9 " rim. And there' s no point on RSD to go with anything less than 250.

11" between rails on my 250 tire, so i'm guessing at 13" would be 288 or 300

The Santee frame I have was said to be a 250 series frame measures 12 1/4". My 200 series Ultima frame measures about 11" and my daughters 200 series Kraft Tech frame measures 10 3/4". I would say yes you have a 250 series frame. I'm sure someone can give you a measurement for a 300 series.

Wow ...no shit. I had a guy from Gulf Coast Sledz measure the santee frame and told me it was for a 200 tire which I did not beleive cuz I knew my Ultima was 11".

Thanks for all the measurements. Here is a pic of the rear of the frame to better clarify the situation. It's obviously a left side drive because it's wider on the left than the right. This is the part that's throwing me off...

Its definitly a LSD so I would think that rules out 300.

Looking at your tape and measuring from centerline to right, i would agree with 250

Both of my 250 tire Redneck frames are 12.75"inside. They are older....2002/2003. Later they widened the rear section width to 13.25" to run a 250 with a belt or 280 with a chain.

I'm sure that's not a Redneck frame.

Kx, thanks for the Redneck info. What makes you sure this one isn't a RE frame? I was thinking it pretty closely matched this one:

I've seen a few "Curves" copy frames. Not sure who is making those. Were there ever any motor mounts or trans mounts? The axle blocks don't look right. Redneck has 2 versions... a round one and their traditional hexagonal block with square edges.
The frame tubing looks too small. Also, there is an extra curve in the bottom of the rear section of your frame.
Can you post a picture from the side? The neck will have RE stamped on the right side.

Did you a get a MSO or statement of origin with the frame?
