Brass Polished or Patina Need Opinions

I'm getting ready to do the final assembly on the bike. I've got some brass parts. I went with minimal chrome on this bike because I wanted to keep it simple and easy to maintain.
So my question is do I keep the brass polished or just let it age naturally. I kind of like the look either way. Some of the brass parts are hardware, foot controls, fittings but i also had my pushrod tubes brass plated which could be a bitch to keep polished. I looked into some clear coats and polish for brass but everything seems to peel, turn color and need upkeep on it...

thoughts......
