Sprocket problem

I ordered an offset 23t sprocket kit from J&P # 6000008 for softail and fxr to use on my 96' xl bobber build, since Im runnin a 150 tire and o-ring chain, to make sure I didnt get tire rub on the chain. Well I put the sprocket on the tranny and about 1/8" of the splines stick out past the sprocket...wtf ? Have no idea who makes it since it was in J&P packaging. Says fits 86-99 softail, so it should fit a 96' xl, but it dont. Says to use with 73-85 dished rear sprocket. So now I gotta order another set of sprockets dont know wether to just order sprocket for 91-92 xl #600-926 and flat rear sprocket. also I have a .900 baker offset sprocket and its fine (covers splines)
So can anyone tell me why this sprocket isnt covering the splines completely ?

Splines are the same Ricky, on bakers sprockets it says it fits 85-2012 big twin and
91-2012 xl and buell...So this other sprocket I got should work.. but doesnt cover splines completely.

Not positive about sporsters, but on 5-speeds (softail) there's a spacer that goes on before the tranny sprocket.Different years, different thickness.

What is Transmission Sprocket Offset?
