G=day all, after taking motor out of bike and pulling top end down the gaskits are fine, the problem lies in the heads.Valve guides on the exhaust port are leaking between head and guide ,so looks like i'm off to have them replaced, The vibration i would reckon was caused buy not shimming up top engine mount, not my fault had a little help there. also do you think if i had of left this leak continue the valve would have sealed or would it have over heated and snaped off and fucked everything

If oil is leaking between the guide and head then you have big problems. That means the guide should drop out with at best a slight tap with a hammer.
If this truly is your problem, they can be repaired. But unless you have plenty of equipment and knowledge this is not something you want to tackle at home.
Guide to head clearance should be -.002--.003.

Also I tried to PM you, but it wouldn't go through.

As far as being computer illiterate I know wher you're at. My skills on this computer are also very limited, but others on this forum have been kind enough to explain how to go from point A to point B.

G-day R.B. yep i was lucky to spot this when i did so now i am going into town and see if i can get a couple of guides to replace the ones that leak i do have a laith and a press to put these back in. i do have another set of heads but there is an oil mark at the exhaust stud,, looks like the same type of thing going on here to. but the valve guide is dry so may have sealed it self. I think i better drop valve out and have a look. thanks mate regards. Rusty. p.s. what do you think is the best methed to install these heat and shrink or press cold.

I've done it both ways.
The problem with the heat is that too much heat and you take the chance of having the seats move.
I don't recommend using a press on the guides. To me it's best that you drive them in with a hammer and driver.
As I mentioned before, if oil got past the O.D. of the giude, you have big problems. I would think (there I go thinking again) the seat and the valve have been pounded.
Don't go buy guides without knowing the diameter of the guide bore, and the O.D. of the guide.
Keep in mind of what the press fit should be, that I had posted earlier.

Just as a side note, I have never seen oil run down between the guide and the head without the head being cracked. Although under certain circumstances I suppose it could.

By the way;
I'm not opposed to heat, it's just that if you do use heat don't go over 250* and chill the guide, then drive the guide in because I don't believe that at that temperature it will expand enough to drop in.

A good rule of thumb for heating metal is it will grow .001 per inch per 100 degrees F.
