Gas Tank air vent tube

Question for those who know. While topping off my fuel tank, I noticed what looks to be an air vent tube. It dislodged while I was filling. I heard a metal to metal clanging sound and figured I done screwed up now. Anyways, my question is..... Is that vent tube supposed to be tacked in place or is it just jammed in place. When I push on the exposed neck, it drops into the tank. It slips out of the sheet metal hole that it normally sits in. I hope I made myself clear. Thanks in advance, Sky Soldier

Are you leaking fuel out of the vent hose that is attached to the underside of the tank? You should be if your vent tube broke free.

No, no leaks below tank. Vent tube is dislodging from upper mount. It must still be holding below, but rattling free above would eventually cause the bottom to work loose. I have to try and secure the top of the tube before the bottom part fails too.
