all baskets wear, even the old tried and true hd baskets wear eventually. The trick for the old baskets was to buy flh clutches not fl's. The flh had little balls on the ends of the discs and the baskets lasted longer and they shifted easier but of course with these new junk clutches you're kinda stuck with what you got. The pressure plate issue can be easily fixed with a steel insert that has a small lip on the back of the insert. One of you young guys should pick up on this shit, you could become rich fixing these manufacturers fuckups

>>The pressure plate issue can be easily fixed with a steel insert<<

I was already planning to make an insert for the galled pressure plate. Seems simple enough. As for the "quiet clutch" option I think it was Rivera that sold the friction plates with the balls but I don't see them advertised anywhere now. BDL sells a clutch pack, sans balls, they call a quiet clutch (pictured below) but if you look closely you can see these friction plates are stamped "Energy One" which is a company that manufactures racing clutches. In any case it wasn't the noise that was the issue it was the premature wear on the clutch basket and I think the updated Ultima basket with the inserts will cure that. I'm just a bit concerned with how they mounted the inserts. I assume it's via some type of adhesive so I'm hoping they stay put.

Energy One clutch plates is what i run in both of my bikes...both are enclosed primarys. I was having constant slipage issues with my chopper and stock HD plates. Switched to Energy One plates and have had no more issues. I like them so much i put them in my stock HD too.

it seems as though the clutches will hold those inserts in place and if they sell the inserts separately it would be a cheap repair as they wear out. not a bad idea they came up with.
