Revtech 100 cutting out when excelerating

I have a revtech 100 that cuts out when excelerating it seems to do it when its hot so Im thinking its something with the ignition system. Ive cleaned the carb and still is doing it. I just got the bike and Im new to these. I was an automotive tech for 10 years so i have some experience with engines but this is kinda different. any Ideas?

Welcome to CC! The entire ignition system is in the nose cone on that motor, if you think the problem is heat related you can take the cone/points cover off and see if the problem goes away with the module being cooled by the air or you could use a heat gun on it to try to duplicate the problem.

Well I think I figured it out. I went to take it out for a ride then noticed that it was only running on one cylinder... So the coil finally died. any suggestions on coils?

Is it safe to say that its the coil when it not even firing from the coil to the front cylinder or could it be the ignition in back of the cone?

It could still be the ignition module. If your module is in duel fire mode(two post coil) then the coil is the problem, if you are in single fire mode(three wire coil) it still could be either. If you have a three wire coil you can swap the two wires from the module and check to see if the problem moved with the wires, if it does your module is bad, if it stays on the same pole the coil is the problem.

Yep, it's the ignition inside the nosecone.

Probably running incorrect spark plug wires causing EMI to slowly eat the module.

Luckly it was running enough to make it home, it would had been a long push home. but ill try swapping the wires and see if the problem moves. it has 3 wires posts on the back where the wires attach so is it a single fire? which spark plug wires should i put on it? also i just washed it i took it out to put gas in it.

Yep It still is running on one cylinder, but only when it gets hot... Time to get a new ignition...
