Rear Cylinder leaking oil at head Gasket

Had to replace the head gasket on my 92" S&S. During my pre-launch look-around I found a broken exhaust stud flush with the head, also had a very small trail of oil coming from the head / cylinder area.

Pulled the head and expected to find a cracked or missing piece of gasket...nope, looked good, WTF? So I replaced the base and head gaskets and drilled and easy-outed the broken exhaust stud and took her fer a ride...all good.

Any ideas on the oil leak?

Was the o-ring missing at the oil return, or did it have the head gaskets that fit tight around the return. If the o-ring was missing, that will make it seep oil at the head gasket.

Well if the gasket had some gap around the return, then either the o-ring was not installed, or maybe it was just a faulty gasket.
Was it leaking on the left, low side of the head ?

On closer inspection of the head gasket it looked like it may have been manufactured wrong. There was a slight depression all the way around the gasket that overlapped into the thread stud holes. The new gasket set did not have this depression the gasket material. No leaks after 1500.
