should i run the cones ??
will they make a real difference on the performance ??
thanks again,

I use em in my sporty builds, but I dont think you should use em in a big inch motor. They rob to much top end. I would get a set of 2 1/4 baffles (they kinda look like a torque cone) and stick those in the end of the pipes.

I've got 2 1/4" Big Growls too. They look good but they are simply to big diameter wise. Tried all kinds of baffles, some I bought some I made myself. So far the best thing that's worked, as far as sound and bottom end power, is the latest thing I did. I slid 1 3/4" lightweight steel tubes into the pipes running full length and sealed (between pipes) with exhaust wrap on both ends. I also tried torque cones in the past and they didn't seem to make any difference.

thanks guys !!
torque cones are for paper weights, and make some baffles to downsize the ID of the pipe some.
sounds good, and i won't have to remove the pipes to do it !!

They work in the xl motors, my brothers xl will leave a big twin sittin until they hit
4th-5th gear then they walk away from him. They definitely improve low and mid range torque.

I use it in my XL motor, improve the low end torque for sho because I'm running straight pipes.

They dont work and in some cases actually hurt torque and hp.A good tuned exhaust will make a huge improvement, torque cones won't...
Torque cones go in the wrong end of the pipe to do any good.

Your wrong, they even say not to use in big inch motors.

It is all about air flow.
If the pipe was equal diameter, it says, for every pressure, there is equal pressure (back up the pipe); Not filling the larger pipe diameter first. It stalled right there on the reversion filling that void.
It took time to fill that pipe. The overlap suffers. What should have been pushed back into the cylinder [with an equal diameter pipe] on that part of the air dynamics, the unspent was somewhere in the larger diameter, if not right at the edge of the smaller diameter area. I'm taking a guess?
I know a sonic wave has to start someplace. I measured about 8 to 9" into the exhaust? I can see a hot spot at the pipe there for both pipes read in similar inches. My guess is it pops/backfires right there. You hear that cannon fire out of that 8" barrel or the end of the exhaust's tip.
That's my take on the change in diameters. That they do work to mess up the torque [in a good way]. Bottom end rules the stoplight = You dart away ~ No metal around you. If they sustain the speed limit, they should never come close to your jump. If all things were ideal on the road.
