Done with mock up, frame sitting too low in front

Just finished with mock up today, my frame is a 6 up 4 out with 42 degree rake, twisted choppers frame. The suggested 8 over front with 3 degree trees, the front bottom of the frame is lower than the rear by close to 1/2 inch. Whats the best way to solve this problem?? The rear tire is a 18 inch 250, the front is a 21 inch 90

I went with the length over that twisted suggested, After we got it all together and off the table it was obvious that the front of the frame was lower than the rear.

I'm just kind of bummed that I went with what they suggested and it did not work out right, the thoughts of shelling out another 300-400 bucks for longer forks is not making me too thrilled

first, i would call the shop that sold you the frame, and see what they have to say. most likely they will steer you in the right direction.

any good shop will be thinking about return customers, so they will go the extra mile to please you.

next thing is 1 / 2" isn't that much. when you get the bike completely finished, i doubt you will be able to see a 1 / 2" height difference.

lastly, when you are setting on the bike, most likely it will settle 1 / 2" at the rear, and level it out.

just my .02 worth.....

Exactly - frame rails should never be lower in the front. Should always be level, or slightly higher than rear.

Use the correct size tubes. Did you use the correct damper tube assemblies?
Most folks will use 84-99 FXST internals.

Why in the world would new tubes cost 300-400 bucks? You don't need complete assemblies - just fork tubes. You can call Forks by Frank - best tubes made. New bushings, etc. don't cost much.

here it is

Frank's Maintenance and Engineering, Inc.

you let them know exactly what you want, they make it exact. You just provide the basic info - typically, 84-99 FXST tubes, what length, etc. - hard chromed. Top quality. Been making fork tubes for a long time. (please don't ask for Frank - he died many years ago.) A couple smart ladies usually work the phone.

+1 for Frank's tube. I paid $200 for a set of +10" '49-early'77 fork legs last year. Frank's only takes cash, check or money-order. No VISA/MasterCard/AmericanExpress.
