Also noted with the bike in neutral , clutch plates removed ,primary chain connected if i spin the clutch hub the clutch shell seems to oscillate making
the chain tight then slack.
Is this my bearing shot already after 500km of riding like a pussy (running in)
as i said every thing was lined up and still tight when i pulled it down.

thank for any help

Storied complaint, tried and true cure.

I generally consider these problems to originate with a worn out battery.

Most dismiss this theory but eventually end up buying a new battery and when they do, all the problem disappears.

1st. I would like to say John sent the right parts ordered and thanks for the speedy delivery.
(Primo ring/pinion 84T 94-97 #1171-0001 and Jackshaft Kit 10-T 94-06 #1185-0004)

2nd. John had nothing to do with the parts used in the 1st post or any other part on this bike.

3rd. In my 1st post i said i had a 94-97 primary kit and (89-93 jackshaft as the paper work said) but this is the same as the new one so the paper work was wrong.
So iam back to were i started.

4th.What year chain drive clutch baskets should be used with a 2006 RSD SGS transmission.

This site is great and u can find most things on here but this is doing my head in.

thanks to all

The clutch should interchange as long as you have all matching components as far as inner, outer primaries and starter jackshaft. In other words they all need to be from the same era. 89-93 or 94 and newer.....This rule gets muddled after 2007 when HD went to their newer primary setup.

The jackshaft and its spacers should fit nicely in the primarys bushings if there is slop it will be obvious you have the wrong stuff.

Have you played with the starter and jackshaft alignment to try to eliminate that as the issue? The starter jackshaft bolt cannot be real tight or it will cause the 3 piece flexible jackshaft to bind.

The starter can get cocked as it is installed as well. The jackshaft should return freely after you pull it out to engage the ring gear. If it doesnt return loosen starter and adjust until it does.

Thanks again John , looks like i have the right part of the same era 94-97
Had another look last night and it seems the clutch hub's splines to the tranny's mainshaft to be quite sloppy could it be that the clutch hub is not fitting right on the mainshaft and thats why my jacks of
5mm .
Mainshaft splines 43mm Clutch hub splines 35.5 to the inner flat washer

thanks to all
