Shovelhead Temp
Hey guys,
I was just wondering if anyone knows what the exhaust temp is on a Shovelhead. More particularly an S&S 93' shovel. I'm curious because I'm looking to repair some imperfections on my pipes with Eastwood lead-free solder before I take them to get ceramic coated. The solder is rated at 428 degrees and Eastwood claims that it can be safely used prior to powder/ceramic coating. Though, I'm not sure if the actual motor temp is hotter than that.
The shovel isn't up and running yet so I took a rod of the solder earlier today and held it against the header right near the head of a small block 350, revved the motor a bit and got it nice and hot; it didn't effect the solder in the least. I'm not sure however if Shovels run hotter than Chevy 350s. Id appreciate any input.
Thanks,
Kal
