Pushrod adjust.
 
I have a 113 S&S with about 1600 miles on it. I wanted to adjust the pushrods. Does anyone have detailed procedure on this? Any help would be great, dont want to mess anything up.

thats my problem sometimes, always gotta fuck with shit. I read that people adjust after 3-500 miles. I dont have anything going on, no loud ticks, just your normal valve train sounds from my carb/stack. I guess Ill just wait to adjust when I hear something. Thanks for the replies, I know how to do it now when Im ready.

Assuming you have hydros, if things are set up right to begin with, should be fine. They'll let ya know when somethin aint right.

With that motor you also need to know if you have the limit traverlers in it befor you start.

I think a travel limiter is that little bracelet the cops put around your ankle when your confined to the house.

Every woman is a, "Limiter COP" whether you like it or not... and there is no adjustment on that push rod of your, (if you get my drift)....

OK, you didn't understand my drift that an air leak might happen if you don't know where your rod is pushing up against. It is going to cause a burn not associated with an, STD....But TDC!!!
The ladies will understand; if said rod is too long, there is never a problem with a, "multiple" type engine functioning in this manor.

On the other hand (a pun for those without mate > me) who work alone... Use this method below....

Do Two At A Time,get The Lifters At There Lowest And Turn The Adjusters About 3 Full Turns Wait About 20 Minutes,then Loosen Them Until U Cant Turn The Pushrod By Hand Then Tighten Up The Ajuster Proceed To The Next 2 Do 2 Fronts Or The 2 Rears First It Doesnt Matter

Once again, my disclaimer is up for push rod adjusts. Here is my take on how I would run the threads on a push rod; I use a toy boat as an example, let it float, push down on it. Did I remove all the adjustment out of that boat ("lifter"), when I squeezed the toy boat farther down in the water? That's how I vision the spin on the twist.

I move all the initial clearance out of rod and then spin the rod as if it were a bearing. I may now count my flats at this starting point; If said number is 40 flats (for argument sake), then twist said number (I'm done) and I move on to the other 3 rods.
If you want to double check your clearance statically, have the rocker boxes off, load each valve rocker under, "LEAK DOWN", read the dial indicator, "blow off number'' as the air breaks through each port hole (EX/IN). If the blueprinted running clearance is .010" (for argument sake), the leakdown needle moves at, .010"... Close her up... Test ride for leaks.

If you are not mixed up now, let me try.......
First, I wouldn't fuck with your adjustment unless you had a problem. Second is that there really isn't any fine tuning on hydro lifters. They will bleed down, or pump up to where they need to be if they are in proper working condition, and set to the MANUFACTURER's recomendation.
Third and maybe the most important, if you are going to adjust them, go to the manufacturer for instructions because there are different TPI's (treads per inch) that will dictate the said number of turns from 0 valve lash. If you go to the S&S site, they pretty much have everything you could ever need available for download.

A few tips I've used that help doing this just in case. I scribe an X on one of my flats on the push rod so I can count the turns.
I use 3 wrenches at the same time. One on the push rod, one on the adjuster, and while holding them both steady, one on the lock nut. It's just to make sure you get exactly what you want without error. John
