So i just went to the stealer to pick up a couple seals and explained my leak to the parts guy who talked to a mechanic there....they said the seal should be pointing spring in on a open primary since that is the way the seal works....i thought that went against the way everyone has been doing it. (FYI. I am runnning a 3" BDL open)..so i am going to try it the way they said spring in and add some gasket shit (since the HD ones dont ahve any on it)....your thoughts??

Mine came spring out, leaked right off the bat. Changed to spring in, thus far no leaks.

They all come with the spring out, because they are set up for a wet primary. I really don't understand why that mechanic said to spring out for an open primary.

Boss, Rhode Warrior had the same engine as you.

The theory is that the spring should face the pressure.

Meaning in your case, the spring in towards the engine.

They come set up for a wet primary. so from the factory, it's spring out.

I guess they figure it's more important to keep the primary fluid out of the engine.

I've run them both ways without problems.
