VIN # on frame?

here's the deal. I just purchased a frame from this guy and was told that the frame was a an 87 or later H-D frame. O.k.....the vin # I have starts with ULT6891xxx.....I was under the impression that H-D frames started with HDxxxx.

Is this an Ultima cycle frame or an H-D frame?
Can anybody shed some light on the subject?

That is a chrome horse ( ultima) Frame.

When he said 87-later, he prolly meant that parts from an 87 or later harley would fit on that frame. ( softail, fxr, etc.). If he gave you the impression it was a ganuine harley dfavidson frame, then you have been defrauded.

Did you get a MSO with the frame? It will tell you. Is it a new or used frame? If it's a new frame then there is only one way it could be a HD frame (as mentioned above this IS an Ultima/Midwest frame). The only way you can purchase a HD frame from the factory is as a replacement frame, meaning you have to cut the neck off the original frame and send it in to HD. They will then build a replacement with the same VIN. A used HD frame would either come with the original title and/ or a bill of sale, not a MSO.

If it's an actual VIN from a complete bike, it should have 17.

If it's just a part # for the frame, it could be any amount.
