ultima 53-660 igniton

installed an ultima 53-660 ignition on a 98 heritage evo. wiring is straightforward.
also installed a ev27 cam. all marks line up. have a no start condition. coil is hot on
all three terminals with kill switch on. no fire to plug wires when turning engine over.
at first had one light on at ignition unit now none... except one green flash when kill switch is turned on and one quick flash on the red light when kill switch is turned off.

any thoughts?

That coil that you have is complicated, it has a transistor inside of it that creates a "signal circuit". You should have 12v to the + side of the coil and o volts to the permanent ground side.
this permanent ground wire is to operate the transistor only...The other wire comes from the module and grounds when the module grounds.

So if you have 12v on all 3 terminals, something is bad wrong,,12v to one wire only..Why don't you disconnect the coil and take voltage reading again to see if changes, if voltage readings change and straighten out with coil disconnected , then you need to research how to test that coil. if voltage readings do not straighten out, then you have wiring wrong..

Sounds to me like you have one or the other ground wires hooked to 12v.

Yep, 12 volt goes to the central post. The other 2 are negatives that arch sparks at front and rear cylinder. I remember pink and blue wires. The rest of the wires taped off.

I suggest people to run the whole pack of wires from the module to the coil. There at central post a 12 v should come from the harness juicing both- the coil and the module( through it,s power supply wire, whatever color it is.)
Then you time the module statically with front cylinder at TDD. Turn left right till light goes off.

SHOULD FIRE. i have 4 of those, never had an issue.

Thanks for the feedback. Ran the wiring harness from the module at the cone to the coil. White to center terminal. Blue to top terminal. Pink to bottom terminal. Violet to VOES. Green not connected, no tack.
Don't see where I went wrong.

Will head back to the garage shortly. Also put an EV27 camshaft in without using adjustable pushrods. After getting the rocker box back on the rear jug with motor in the
frame I was wiped and pissed at Harley. You think they could have found an extra 1/8th of and inch more clearance.

Thanks again for the responses.

I don,t know top or bottom terminal ( depends how you mounted it. )as long as those are front and rear and correct
Middle is white as I remember , power to the module.
You don,t mention hot wire also hooked to the mid terminal feeding both- coil and module.

Once power is on, the module lights up,

It,s difficult to trouble shoot when you have changed 2 major variables at a time. Unless it,s brand new project and everything is uncharted.

I learned hard way and and at times had to change back one of the variables to the known working condition. Fix the other and come back for the 1t .

Was the bike running before all of this? Was it running good?

bike ran fine. wiring is correct. white hot to center post and white from module to center post. with no wiring to coil except center white both end terminals are hot.
has to be internal prob. with the coil. that phrase "has to be" can bit you.

started out as a change on the cam bearing /seal and an upgrade to the cam while there. opened the cover on the cone and found the ignition sensor pick up showing signs of 22 years and 53k miles of wear.

Thanks again. Always gain something from all you guys imput to different posts.
