5 speed quadseal and enclosed primary

I've been riding this bike for 13 years/50,000+ miles.Stock H-D,bought new.So where exactly does this seal go on a '99 softail 5 speed?I thought it went between the sprocket spacer and drive gear, but it seams JUST large enough that the spacer won't seat up to the drive gear.

Also, theres 7 nylon washers that are in a James primary gasket set I have for a '92 primary (inner/outer) running stock chain drive.

Does your spacer have a tapered edge? It should clear the quad seal if the tapered edge is towards the inside

Yes it has a taper.Old quad ring was cut.Probably why there was a leak AND the sprocket nut was loose upon disassembly-not drawing up.Maybe pinched-why I'm at a stop because the new one doesn't want to "draw into" the taper when compressing the spacer to the drive dear snout leaving a gap between the two.
