In all my battery trays I use screw -on type chair polyurethane floor protectors: 5 on the bottom (corners and center)and several on the sides .
Pretty clean and doesn't move around when battery is dropped in. Battery s suspended from all sides.
Granted, the tray has enough room for 1/4 " sick cushions .

Batteries in a twin rattle themselves to pieces ,your lucky if you get a year or two ,and most are not made very well , I would just buy a $50.00 battery off of e-bay replace it ever couple of years.
