Saxon Griffin chain tension

Hi I have a custom 2009 saxon griffin with a S&S 111 running a rivera primo 6 speed tranny with a chain drive to a 300 rear tire. i do not have a manual for this bike and the shop that built it no longer exists. I would like to know how much free play i should have in the drive chain. i know how to adjust the chain etc i just need to know how much freeplay there should be . It is a softail swingarm style frame

thanks

About 1/2 inch play in the top is good ..just enough to keep the stress off of your bearings...
