Shaving decks on Ultima heads

Anyone done this on their Ultima engine? I have the 100ci, giving it a port and polish and I was wondering if decking the heads on these .030" still leave enough valve to piston clearance

I would check it first. You can get .030 head gaskets that will do nearly the same thing and with head gaskets if you dont like the results you can easily change them back to .054" which is stock on most Ultima engines.

the thing is every motor is differant even if off the same production line there will be measureable differances,
before doing any kind of skimming on the heads i'd assemble and measure with Plastiguage before any machineing, or ya could end up with 2 paper weights.

as has been said thinner head gaskets will give you an idea of what you will end up with, but even then check valve to piston gap first just in case.
