crane hi 4 static timing

When static timing crane hi 4 on my shovelhead. I set to tdc and rotate module clockwise until the led timing light goes out and then tighten stand off bolts. If I then turn the switch off and back on without touching anything else and led light is lit again. Should it not still be unlit?? This is a kick start only bike that will not start and I am not sure if the problem is timing or carburetion. Thanks in advance for your help. Any input is greatly appreciated.

1. Check compression. I have to get this out of the way or I'm chasing a spark that is there and fuel that flows.

2. Your procedure is correct. Light on steady with key back on is correct. If light flickers as you kick thru, the HI-4 is the problem. I assume if the light remains steady, next is coil.

3. If I kick thru, I have spark I ground the plugs to head and away from the plug hole or there goes the garage. Which now says, I have fuel and spark I have flame out the hole.

4. I don't care the bike, ATC, the year, the whatever, a kick start has it's own way of starting. It has idiosyncrasies you have to farm out, so don't take it personal. Like, it takes two dry kicks and starts. It takes a throttle blip 2 times and it starts, no dry start kicks needed. It starts one kick. See what I'm saying about a kicker, shovel, pan... Takes a man to kick one of these over. Find its start procedure or charlie horse, leg cramp, ankle wank is you.

Yes, cntrhub is where we get our best information in here.....To add to this I have tried to find an answer to your question about the light coming back on and see nothing.....But according to everything else, you have done the timing correctly..

Have you done an eyeball test on your spark? Pull the plugs, hold your finger over the spark plug hole,.....kick it over... and see if it sparks at the same that compression shoots out....you will have to have someone help you..if you have the above criteria, then it should run or at least try to crank......then look else where for a problem.....
