How about this starter

My starter bit the dust today..I was looking at this starter on ebay and need some expertise as to whether it will bolt right up to my Ultima transmission with no problems..it says it is two inches longer than stock but that is not a problem..I want to make sure that all terminals clear all holes the same etc....

Mounting holes look stock( the same as any other starter) ...the terminal looks like in angled position( as opposite to the top, - if that fits your setup. Difficult to see in the picture, I would check with the seller.

I took this starter apart today and cleaned and sanded the armature which had a bad coating of oxidation on the copper ...and it gave it an incredible amount of power...I found a name on the primary side of the starter...Powermaster..no problems now..That's been the problem all along with the slow starting..

At Harley manual I believe they describe cleaning the slots between the lobes of armature from some deposits with some soft metal tool. I periodically open solenoid and refresh the surface on the big copper washer of the plunger and corresponding 2 contacts that run juice to the motor. They always get pitted by arching and that significantly drops conduction.

At some point I think you can get those parts new- you can,t keep polishing them forever.

And the starter becomes like new again.

By the way I now go for not even 2 or 1 ga cable, but 2/0, marina grade. If there are no tight bends or spaces, it,s great investment. Custom made to the length right in the marina store , crimped with the 5/16 ends and sealed with thick and glued shrinking tube of marina grade cost me 40 bucks...total.

small investment with big returns...get an end cover for the solenoid that has a push button on the end. let,s you get started when the contacts begin to fade.
