ultima 127 junk

Hi anyone this 127 ultima is junk. I working on cam, lifters and timing. I starting to get back together and the bolts in center section strip out oh not just one or two but 5 of the 6 on one cylinder and four on back cylinder. So is this normal for this DAM motor. Now I'm buying new center section for 35.00 a each. I adding up around for cam, lifters and gaskets. Bike been down almost 6 week. I had running pumped all oil out now I think agot it but wait more problems are they all like this. It been a bad day!!! not in the wind again.

I haven't torn into my 127 yet but it seems that it shouldn't be any different than a Harley...same materials,
Are you sure you are not over torquing the bolts? and that the torque sequence is uniform?
I haven't had any problems other wise with my 127.

No I don't think so but its too late now. The book said 120 inch pounds. Next time I'm just by feel. So looking at getting some new ones and do it again. I think the bolts are too short . Looking Jirehcycles about 42.00 each for the base and gasket kit 35.00 each. All I tell you is if yours go south and it the lifter that comes apart and takes the cam, tappet blocks. Its a pain in the ass. Also about 600.00 in parts. I was pissed last night and am still but I going get back together it just sucks that you buy something thinking it going last then this happen.

I have never used a torque wrench myself.. maybe once, but I didn't like not being able to feel the torque, you can feel when a bolt is at it's limit..... I never had a problem other wise...Sorry you are having problems but it's a heck of an education and should be a breeze next time....

Let you know how it go. Then I get the parts on. I still think do better job on these motors. 2500 miles and it comes apart that not right. Its not like I was out there running it balls out.

Just out of curiosity, what year is your motor? I read that when Ultima first started in business..they got a batch of bad rockers....not all engines got bad rockers , but some of them did.....and a lot of them came apart with in 500 miles..etc..mine is a 2004 and I haven't had any problems...not even any noise,,, which makes me think that I dodged the bullet......if yours is a newer model then I don't know...

So far I haven,t had problems with 2013 127 " and 2014 120", both about 1600 miles of careful breaking in.
I think I saw a tiny bit of oil from under the rear head on my 120", but vented the crank against Ultima recommendations and havn,t seen it any longer. Will keep an eye on that.

I only used tongue wrench when installing cylinders and heads twice per HD manual. Never on the rockers trusting the ' feel' and leverage of appropriate size wrenches. If I installed rockers, they never leaked ( I,m a bit liberal with hylomar...)
I would use torgue wrench if I were to build my own engine. I don,t think I would want to second guess myself there if something was wrong, too costly...

I had the same issue with the crankcase pressure on my 127..when I vented it was like magic..
all oil leaks stopped...I seriously believe that high crankcase pressure can cause serious problems in all parts of an engine including proper oil flow...if it's blowing out the head and base gaskets..valve covers ...it doesn't take Einstein to figure that one....the pvc valve didn't work out
....it kept freezing up with oil ..so i just have a filter on it now.. but still no oil leaks..and a happy engine..

i have just a nipple and a 1 ft hose that is vertically attached to the seat post, no filter.- it's kind of cool to get a hand over it and feel the bursts of pumping hot air . I might put a little chrome filter from pep boys. Didn't decide yet.
