127 Better compression release.
My 127 loves to kick back onto the starter unless I manually hold the damn things down. Anyone know of a way to modify the ultima comp release or is there a better comp release I should use? Been through 2 starters 3 starter gears clutch basket gear sets.... using ultima 2Ki / dyna ignition on reccomended setting xxx carb . Any advice would be awsome..

Try not twisting the throttle until the motor is spinning. Makes a big difference without that squirt from the accelerator pump. Especially when it has been started in the last few hours.

Yep, too advanced might kick back.
Also incorrect pushrods adjustment / valve timing might do that.
Typically ignition should be set for electric starter with a few : 2-3 dead revolutions before the ignition kicks in, also helps starter to gain momentum.

I have similar sized battery and starter. But I use gauge 2 and sometimes even 1 cables cut to the length. A lot of people use 4, but use double grounds.
There,s no such thing as too much of a cable. I think it,s overlooked in starting systems.

Might be. I have that ignition on S&S 96" engine, the curve that supposedly was for it was a bit too aggressive. Pinging.
My 127 came with it,s own apparently unadjustable ignition, seems to be timed well( with static setup) 1.75 starts it very decently. Perhaps 2kw might be more robust, but, as many noticed, increasing the size of starter against the battery might sacrifice the battery capacity for number of effective cranks( in case it doesn,t fire up you want them as many as you can spare)
