Ultima "shovelhead"

John,
You are an Ultima dealer right?
I was just curious.... what do you think about the Ultima "Shovelhead" motor.... any thoughts on the comparison to the S&S "Shovel"?

Does the Ultima only come in 96 ci (with somthing like 9.5to1 compression)?

How are they on availability?

And lastly...... how much $?

Sorry about all the questions....

anybody else's thoughts on this mill?

I havent used one yet kinda wanted to let the dust settle and let someone else do the R&D for them. They do not advertise them very strongly yet but I can check availability.

The bottom end is pretty much the same as the EVOs so it should be as decent engine if they got the top end right.....

I asked my Midwest Rep about them and he said they have natural ones in stock and Ultima has been selling them since Feb. He says they have been good so far with no issues.....

Take that with a grain of salt as its the guy selling them but my rep is pretty straight if they were having troubles I think he'd be straight with me. . . . . .

thanks for the info

sorry about the new thread....I prolly shoulda checked the archives

One major turn off for me ...purely apearance wise.... is the chrome rocker covers.... fuck that. ...would much rather polish (or not polish) aluminum

This blerb that Frank posted in another thread sounds kinda promising:

A little info for you...

Midwest Motorcycle Supply is proud to announce the promotion of Mike Garrison to Vice President of Manufacturing. Mike has over 30 years experience in all aspects of high performance motor manufacturing. Mike Garrison is best known as the former owner & senior designer of Engenuity Motors which were known worldwide for their flawlessly smooth appearance & top of the line quality. We feel that promoting Mike is another positive step to insure that the Ultima Motor is the best choice when purchasing your V-Twin. Utilizing the knowledge he has amassed through decades of motor manufacturing, he has been, & will continue to be channeling this knowledge to insure the Ultima motor line is the best there is. Since joining Midwest in September of 07 Mike has helped create several new motor options such as the "Black Gem", the 96" Shovelhead & the all new "Diamond Cut" edition. Mike has also helped create & supervise Ultima's all new Engine Rebuild Program. Ultima motors are cast, machined & assembled in and around St Louis, Missouri which gives Mike the advantage of being able to oversee all manufacturing processes from stem to stern. Along with complete motors, Mike is also in the process of producing an even more complete line of replacement engine parts from Flatheads to Twin Cams at prices that cannot be beat. After many years of proving that a quality motor can be "Made in America" & still be affordable we are excited to see what the future holds with Mike at the wheel.
