To me R.U.B.'S are...............

To me R.U.B.'s are VERY important to the biker industry. As any recent innovation or any T.V. show. With out them, there would be no new innovations , Discovery channel and the other Cable Channels would have never produced any shows about bikes or bikers.Well nothing positive anyways. Harley wouldn't be building over 300,000. bikes a year. and there wouldn't be companies like Big Dog, American Iron Horse,West Coast Choppers,Big Bear Choppers and yes even O.C.C. Maybe not even a Club Chopper.

So when some of you guy's want to bash R.U.B.'s Think about it, With out them,The industry would be nowhere near, What it is today.

Rocky
R.U.B. in training...............

Like nobody wants to be rich or well off. Yeah right.

Gotta agree with you, Rocky! I remember, when I was little, my cousin chopped his Sportster in my aunt's back yard. At that time there were no aftermarket frames, or any parts for that matter.
Everywhere you look now there are companies that sell so much stuff you have to wonder where it all comes from, for just about any bike style you want to do.
Someone saw the money cow, knew that it would happen, and took the time into R&D to come up with all the equipment available today.
Had to be a RUB!!

Rocky , You forgot to mention that H-D would have never turned
its back on the people who bought, supported, and rode their bikes
back when they werent so "fashionable".So, I guess guys like myself and some of the more"veteren" riders have to thank the
RUBS for that huh?...........sorry, no thanks or handshakes comin
from me on that one.Thats also another reason why people build their own bikes. who wants to shell out big bucks(or, who can?)
for a cookie cutter ride? So, yeah, you might thank the RUBS, but
not me.
just my opinion here,
T

You don't have to thank them I didn't say you should. But if you were riding H-D'S back then , Weren't they cookie cutters back then? that's why people came up with custom part's and custom bike's.

Damn it seems like not everybody can play in the sand box.

You know I talk to allot of shops and builders, To hear there views and most like RUB'S. and Some don't. It is funny how the ones that don't either have closed up or haven't seen a boom in business...................

and for your information, I have been around since the beginning of the after market bike craze. Remember Illusion motorcycles?? They were the first aftermarket bike company that I know of. Before that most of the people that wanted a cool bike had to dump 5k to 10k in a Harley.hmm Harley 20k +10K = 30k Big Dogs and other bike companies 19k to 30 something. That's really not big buck's. That's why the aftermarket bike craze has flourished. But God forbid that anybody spend that kind of money on a bike. and once they do they are labeled a R.U.B. I thought bikers were sopposed to stick togeather?????

hey, RELAX! I wasnt attacking you. I'm just stating my opinion.
and as far as "back in the day" we chopped our own shit. we made our own parts, fabbed our stuff, raked our own frames etc.
so sinkin 10k was NOT happening. I agree, bikers should and DO stick together.and as far as your opinion of 19-30k not being big bucks well, thats YOUR opinion. depending on the person, their
situation that could be big bucks.and as far as labeling anyone,
I try not to. If I meet someone,I try to get to know them. Then I make my assesment.Again, I'm not attacking you or anyone, I'm
just stating my opinion.

That was the original point...there are so many people willing to spend cash on parts and cycles, that it has driven new innovation and made more parts and better products available...the market is driven by demand. Nearly Every industry functions this way...that is why we have super-bandwidth computers...cause people want it! Bill Gates isn't sitting around grousing about how "back in the day we used to code in binary on black and white monitors". ...why would he? The only complaint one might have is that prices are a little high, but the variety is outstanding, and you can still choose to buy or not to buy.

R.U.B. is really just a title given to those that have by the have nots initially...but I don't know that it is so derogatory. That would be like an ugly chick calling a hot chick a F.A.B. or Fine Ass Bitch...ouch! You just called be rich and a biker all in the same acronym...so fn what!

I guess I am an old dinosaur then. I prefer to do as much as I can
by myself rather than give someone my $.It gives me a sense of pride and accomplishment to do it myself.Dont get me wrong, i CANT do everything.but i try to do what I can.Take for example, my homemade prozac, ......works like a charm!
