Just finished my bike. Negative grounded to the frame near the battery. Starter battled to turn the motor over with the tiny Braille battery even with compression releases on an Ultima 113 cu.in.
Found a 4 gauge battery cable at Advanced Auto parts which I ran directly from the battery negative to the starter bolt. Great improvement. Battery and starter work much better together and motor fires right up.
