HD announces new electric motorcycle

Harley-Davidson unveils first electric motorcycle | Fox News

Interresting,... but I don't think it will have a strong following..... Wouldn't be the first time that Harley wandered off in a bizzare marketing direction...!

I got the email about it a couple of days ago. I think it's an attempt to capture a niche' market but more importantly the electric bike plus the Street 500 & 750 will help HD meet the new CAFE(Corporate Average Fuel Economy) standards and allow them to keep the big V-Twins the way they are. If you look closely, all of the car companies in the US have a electric, a hybrid, or a diesel program that fits nicely into the CAFE box that the government has created. While they're all trying to make their current models more fuel efficient they'll never meet the new standards so they add a couple of super fuel efficient models to each line and their average MPG falls nicely into place without losing current levels of horsepower.

I can see the headlines now:

Hundreds die at Bike Week from electrocution caused by water puddles shorting out the new HD electro-glide...

Naaa, never going to buy one even for my boy. Harley 500 and 750 look like a miniature Harley just born out of nowhere and feeling lucky enough to be from the Harley stable. Harley should stick to what they are best at.

That thing is a joke. Nobody gonna buy this. The range is a joke. And seen the price?

You can buy some chinese electric bike for a fractional amount and put a HD sticker on it.
They are all the same. Does not matter what brand.
