What is your kv range on the gun you ordered?

Most parts can be shot at 70-90 kv's with no problem
second coats require the kv setting to be reduced to 40-60 kv's with our Nordson powder gun
I like to shoot metallics at 50-60 kv's so the metallic pigments don't get to excited from the charge & lay flat on the part.

This basic info should get you going, the rest you will learn from new gained experience, trail and error & practice, practice, practice

Good luck!!!

I have a range of 30-50 (spectracoat es-hobby) and i'm doing motorcycle sheilds. Mostly 20% black powder, and that's it. How would i choose where to set it at?

50 kv's will be fine for most colors solid or metallics

The real question I have isnt the KV adjustment which KV adjustment is over rated but Micro Amp adjustments which is where the Magic happens. Being a Nordson Distributor and Certified Nordson Trainer I can tell you that Micro Amp adjustment is a incredible feature with all powder especially with Incapsulated metallics or Non Incapsulated metallics.

you must bought a manual gun, there should be a adjusting knob to control the voltage .
