Smile Powder Coated Gas Tank

Wanted to share some pics of a gas tank I powder coated. I wish the pictures did it justice, in person, it looks like nothing I have seen before, very happy with it. It is bare steel with a sort of random brush pattern and then powder coated with 2 coats of clear. I know the finish wont last as long as a blasted part, but sometimes you gotta make sacrifices, in this case its form over function.

Incredible Job. I dig the Brushed Aluminum look or steel. Very Sharp.
Are you putting any decals on it, etc. Also, I build and restore small bikes and want to get into Powder coating. Could you recommend a good kit to start with, without breaking the bank. My Buddy at Tricked out Cycles in PA does all my work for a great Price, but would like to do my Own. Here are a few pics of it white powder coated on my Sons Bikes. I built about 5 bikes already and doing a 250 evel knievel theme Bike.............Keep me posted on more pics of tank. Scott

After the tank is powder coated on the outside it can then have tank liner applied inside.
I recommend Caswell's epoxy liner with colorant.
You can get a 2 oz. jar of premixed white colorant at TAP plastics for about $6.50
You only need one jar.
I called Caswell's and they approved of it.

I used Caswells's tank liner on my last two tanks and it was excellent.
It was hard as a rock.
EDIT:
If you get a mini kit with foil pouches for a tank 3.3 gallons or less you will only need 1/2 jar of colorant.

The mini kit is just enough for a 3.3 gallon tank.

Why colorant? Please excuse my ignorance - I'm just curious. I've lined a couple tanks so far, but never considered a different color. What color did you use?

With the inside of the tank lined with white you can see if any part of the tank did not get covered and just looking in the tank is so much easier, that no flashlight is needed.
Usually when you look inside of a gas tank it is just a dark hole.

You try -you like. LOl..lol

Ah, I see now. I've just used the KBS Coatings Gold Standard tank sealer. It works great, but its steel-color. I can see where the white would be real nice.
