Puttin' Phantom to the test
Jay, I hope you don't mind (much).
I posted a thread about Yaffe vs. BBC & Jay answered with honest opinions. Over the course of some phone calls, I discovered a shop that had vision, balls, style, and willing work with my idea of what a custom chopper should be.
However, it is still just talk. for now.
Since Phantom doesn't have the high profile of a Yaffe or the production numbers of a BBC, it's hard to do research on the quality of the shop and their work. Not a knock on them at all. When I'm considering droppin' 30+ large ones, I want as much info as I can get. Since he's in Alaska & I'm in PA, can't just drop by for a visit.
Any of you that have done business with Jay, own or have owned one of his bikes, how about a little feedback on your experience, the quality of the bike, working with the shop, etc.
If you don't want to post public, PM me or drop me an email.
Thanks.

I have not purchased a kit or complete bike from Jay, I however I purchased a part. A sprotor and have talked to him about some issues I have had and his willingness to help a customer who has bought one part is awsome! I feel like I can call him and ask him a question and I wont get blowed off because of my small purchase. On top of that when I had a problem with the part (install issue that I did myself) he did everything he could to get me my part in time for the local Easyrider show. I have talked with other shops including Yaffe and have only found a small few in the industry who will take the time to insure your comfort level like Jay.
Side note: Yaffe and BBC will give what the next guy has, Jay will give you some that you want and that most people on the East dont. IF you cant build it yourself, then why would anyone want the same thing the next guy has. I would buy someting unique and something of quality. Something that wont be serial number XXXXXXXXXXX and I get to it when I can, my experience tells me Jay will get to it NOW. Good luck.

I would not hesitate for a single minute to buy a Phantom Chop from Jay. I bought my springer front end from him and he took great care of me and answered all my questions regarding setup and assembly.
So if your asking for opinions I give him a thumbs up and cannot speak to either BBC or Yaffe.

I'm building my chopper at Jay's shop. I could not of done this without Jay's help , plus he is letting me use his tools and space. His advise and help is priceless. I would not hesitate to recommend Jay.

Jay has helped me out with a few issues, and I've never bought part 1 from him.
He's a stand up guy, who still believes a mans word means something. I wouldn't hesitate for a second investing in him.
I'm not a big fan of Yaffe for personal reasons, and I can't speak for BBC, but I'd feel confident, and know I was going to get what I asked for, and more, from Jay.
Just my heavily taxed .02

I bought a front end from Phantom and it arrived in 7 days flat! I even screwed it up and scratched it during mock up and he helped me get it re-chromed at a REASONABLE price!
Jay is awesome to deal with and I highly recommend him.
