Cracked right where piston kissed the valve. Perhaps was tight clearance to start with. Add pretty aggressive advance and shitty gasoline and here you go.
I bet your ignition has neither voes nor ignition nock retard adjusters. Poor piston just kept banging.

I recall reading advance recommendations, I think by crane- get the best advance and then back off ( retard) a few degrees for the consideration of shity gasoline.

And the thing is Most times we don't know that these things are going on in our motors!!!!! so this place makes all us know it all take notice speaking for myself that is.
