Very cool to see your posts! Keep up the good work!
Currently working on a "new" build, but lately I haven't had the time, so I paused the project. Hope I'll can go back to it soon...a

Thank you.
Tig welding machine issues and some physical (cracked pelvis) probs stopped the project in its tracks.
Back onto the chopper , I got the tig machine to work and sealed up the oilt ank. Leak testing tested my patience with 6 leaks , 5 from whoever fabbed the tank and one from my work , got it sealed up .
Now the tank is ready for final finish:

Thanks.
Still badgering away at the oil tank supplied with the frame.
Fried and crappy metal in the bung area and the bung itself resulted in replacement. Yopu can see the patch tigged in and the new bung fitted. Its not tigged because the bloody flow meter broke after the patch weld.

And with stainless pipe fittings to get the opening up into a fillable area , left large diameter to allow air out as oil is poured in.

Not much left to do on the wonder tank , almost enough time into it to have made a new one!

Thanks for lookin'
Convenience is not high on the list for a custom builder.
Doing it easy is , well , too easy.
And generally creates bikes that are of singular use and attractive to the builder mostly.
The work done and the experience of dedicated custom builders is not to be easily dismissed.
FINALLY the oil tank is tigged and airtight. A whole lotta patience required to get there. Its ugly as hell , not something I would use on a personal build , but it will work and is pretty much invisible on the finished machine. I'll find a 'hammered' or textured paint to finish it with , wrinkle black or such will hide some of the imperfections.
Here the tank and the battery box are placed in a tub , CLR is introduced , water to fill , and placed in the sun. The CLR will clean the steel and etch it for the primer to come. It will also create a no rust etching inside the tank . Placing the tub in the sun to heat it will accelerate the process. We did this to gas tanks at the chopper shop where I worked. The treatment works great for any new construction or repair work.

Thanks for lookin'
The CLR did its job , the foaming tells the story.
Here are the parts cleaned in water nd blown off:

Close up shows the conversion and light etching:

And even though it is 42 celsius here I blew on the primer to seal the parts:

Even the oil tank looks marginally better:

I get the TIG welder set up.
Years , months , days , hours of patient setup obstacles over come.
Starting on the frame mounts;

Here is the frame in the light of day. All mounts have been tigged or migged on, welds smoothed and contoured a little. Its not a full on build so seeing the welding isnt a big deal. A few small details to fill in and finish. I'm looking to sandblast now.

Tigwork today included the coil mount fabrication.
Here is the parts layout:

Matching to the top motor mount:

90% finished:

Back view:

Sides are of s/s sheet , and carry 3 idiot lights, neutral and the turns on the top.
There will be a cover from the same burlwood as the ignition switch mount.
And the frame is completed for sandblasting tomorrow.
