There's a really good piece of advice, buy strip it sellit, buy chop it sell it etc. You dont have to build your dream bike on the first one. Work out ideas what looks good and learn as you go. You might find yourself like alot of guys never finishing the bike you will keep because you keep evolving what you want. Me I sold three Harley based chops to buy the house, since then everything I start building someone comes along and wants it so I sell it to them when its done. I have an XS 650 and a GS1100 I plan to build both for me but my dream bike is a Norton Commando chop, I probably wont have another Harley doesnt bother me a bit but I want the Norton. I think I have a line on one for under $500 rusting in a field.

Which is why I didn't erase your first couple of posts on this thread...Because you were voicing your opinion.

I am still debating the 450 hondamatic. I am almost definately going to be getting my hands on this 1970 cb350 motor/tranny that runs good. I am going to clean it up real nice and then look for a frame to throw it in. possibly up my funds a little bit with that project too.

I dont understand why everyone is against Jap Bikes. Yes, in my opinion they dont hold a candle to a vintage harley. But not everyone can afford a harley. If i was broke and a honda was the only thing i could ride to get my knees in the breeze, id be on one. Im so tired of harley riders bashing honda riders and vice versa. It should be about riding, not what brand you ride.
Go ahead and bash me for posting this, im expecting it.

In order to make a Bobber, you need to START with a stock 1940s-1950s stock Harley or Indian rigid frame and motor.
IMO, Anything else wont be bobber.

My friends have Honda, V-Star 1100, V-Star 650, Boulvader Suzuki, and Im the only one so far with a Harley. And I'll be the first to admit they are all riding while I'm still wrenching. How cool is that.

You have two options...
  1. Take up "Speed Wrenching"
  2. Do all your wrenching at night so you are ready to ride at dawn (sleep is over rated)

I pick option #2.
