repily to central illinois dude

Hey man...I live here in Chicago...I just joined this thing...I am planning a "captian america chopper" looking to find the parts right now...because of my limited income...I have to do it piece by piece...but I am needing any information about the parts...where to get them...and especially what they are...I know most of them are nothing special...plain foreward controls...plain panhead motor...(56 I believe) straight foreward handlebars...seat...sissy bar...that kind of stuff...if you know of anybody that knows about that bike...I would appreciate to know. old50frame

Hey Hwywoman...you are just the person I am looking for...I have been in the chopper business for 30 plus years...unfortuneately on the bad side...I partied and wasted all the time getting drunk and thrown in jail...always having plans to build that one great chopper...well finally after going thru several shops and a marriage, (she died last year of a heart attack...I litterly wore her out) (didn't realize what I had) I will spend the rest of my life paying for it...but we had always planned to build a captian america chopper and ride to new orleans togather...well I promised her on her grave I would finish the dream...I quit drinking and moved here to Chicago with my brother (who owns a 2000 sporty) I got a job in a window factory and am saving my nickles and dimes...I know the bike from watching the movie 200 times...I even know the roads they went on and filmed at...all thats left is the build and the trip...what I need is parts...I think I'll find a wore out scooter and rebuild it...I know real old pan heads are rare...and wore out ones even rarer...but I feel I will find one...maybe a tired pan chop...if you could tell me any info about this it would be appreciated...(if I have to start from scratch...OK...) old50frame

I moved from Peoria to Phoenix over 18 years ago. I like it better here for the longer riding season.
