today i kickstarted the end result of a project nearly five-and-a-half years in the making. i'm not gonna do a full on build thread, like i first thought i would. i have tons and tons of pictures taking it from the very first days of stripping down the piece of shit, hacking the frame in half, and hammering and fabbing tons of parts.
i'm tempted to just post the "finished" pics i took this afternoon, but i hate to waste so much of the experience if there are folks who are interested. i couldn't decide whether to start at the end and go back, or from day one. (seems like so much work just to post about). but i learned a lot and gained a lot of confidence from others who took the time to post detailed build threads, so i guess i can pay it forward just a bit and skim through the highlights. if you have any questions, i'll be happy to expound. i just don't get too excited about the thought of typing out a long ass build thread if there's not much interest in it.
so if there's anything you want to know more about, just let me know! otherwise, i'll just cover the highlights. but trust me, there's a TON of stuff i've experienced through the process, whether it counts for knowledge or not is up for debate.

sooo... here's where we started. a total crap ass build from a sketchy dude in carolina. i mean, it's god's country and all... but everything about this buy screamed "crap."
so who better than poop to answer?
notice that the gas tank is held on with hose clamps. wiring was connected with wire nuts from home depot, or more likely stolen from some jobsite. i hated to insult the guy's fine crapsmanship when i went to pick it up, but something had to be said. he threw in a parts bike to make up for it, and it did.

of course, the bike hadn't always sucked quite this bad, although it likely did always suck somewhat, according to reviews.

teardown begins! funny seeing the pic now, in the same spot i kicked 'er back to life this morning, almost five years later.
a few minutes later, and the bike is looking better already...
i'm gonna need a little help with this...

i had marcus extend the rear axle six inches to make some more room for my ass. long and low i was going for. and skinny. drop seat made it even lower. and marc raised the axle a couple inches, too. long, low and skinny.
