"the Flang Beater" 78 xs650

"the Flange Beater" 78 xs650 (cause I know you're wondering, FLANG is british slang for PooOOoonTANG)

How I bought it

Added Stripes

The first ride. Clutch was WAY out of adjustment. Quick zip down the street and back on easter sunday a couple years ago just to agitate the neighbors a little.

Changed a few things

More stripes and a shiny helmet relined by Justified Defiance

...

the frame cracked on a ride home so she's been sitting for quite a while due to me being down from a lot of stupid medical issues for a little bit. Back at it now though. Gave the Flyrite tank, the headlight, and the seat to my buddy Jon to get his chop underway. Had a close friend "Blue Beard" Mike patch, brace, and gussett the frame until I get the time to take it to Gypsy for some of his magic welding. Anyfuckingway, this is how she sits now.

Rebuilt the clutch and carbs about a month ago. Broke a fuckin' clutch basket thanks to the "high quality" made in Taiwan specialty tool.

An ultra rare vintage NOS chopper accessory from the mid 70s. The Briggs Gas Tank!

Well that one's not even good for a beer run, so I tried a couple more. Wouldn't fit. So I'll be going back to the original tank. The black one in the first couple pictures.

Yeah, she's a little bit giddy. And my stepdad was ragging my ass the whole time, so that wasn't helping matters.

That rear brake reaction arm is NOT properly mounted. It could bend.
It should be mounted with the hub attachment point on the bottom, and the force will be pulling on the brake reaction arm NOT pushing on it.

Look at any other motorcycle.

Yes, I'm already aware of it. Thanks for pointing it out though. There are SOOO many things that were not done the correct way that it will take me a long time to straighten them all out. This is how I bought the bike, this is how I will ride it out when I get it back on the road for the very short time that will be left in this riding season here. Then, come winter, it will be taken down and done the correct way.

That avatar with the face and mouth sewn up is very disturbing to me.
You must be really angry about something. Sorry but every time I see it is is disturbing.
Maybe it is my age or something. i am an older guy.
I just keep thinking that I hope you do not torture or kill someone someday.
Maybe someone really fu$## you over.
Take good care of yourself.

Just my honest thoughts,sorry.

BTW as far as the bike. That brake reaction arm on the rear brake may have caused the frame to crack with all that downward force.
