Hondamatic Chopper

Ive been wanting my girlfriend to get into riding, but she is worried about the clutch and shifting part of it all. Ive had her practice on my 4 wheeler and trust me she needs a lot of work. Anyways i was thinking of making a small little rigid with a hondamatic motor as the drivetrain. Anyone on here have any experience with these bikes? Is there no clutch to pull at all. I know there is two speeds and im assuming nuteral. Let me know what you guys think. I just want her to be comfortable and i was thinking this is a great way to get her started.

i don't mean this in an ugly way (really, not this time!), but i really do believe that some people do not belong on the back of a bike with their hands on the handlebars.

if she cannot figure out shifting and clutching easier than you can find and chop a hondamatic, some might question your motive on this one. we're not talking about a fatal attraction girlfriend, are we??

really though, in all seriousness, the shifting issue on the four wheeler might be a good gauge for if she's ready to take on the other more pressing issues of riding a bike.

hope i've not offended.

Well you have to walk before you can run and I thought this might be a way for her to walk. I had the same thoughts as you and I really expressed to her that she has to really want to do this and that id rather see her safe on the back of my bike than possible hurting herself, but she want to ride. I have some open fields that we planned on practicing in before we even chopped it. No fatal attraction, been together for 5 years.

My wife took the motorcycle saftey course in PA and crashed five times before she realized that she was meant to look pretty on the back of the bike.

I wouldn't let no woman on the road if her ass didn't grow up riding dirt bikes or something. Get her a dirt bike!

Place a tennis ball in her left hand and now both go to bed. Have her hold the tennis ball, and guess what, (that's right) You watch her left hand on the squeeze out. Feel your (JimJohnhoney) twist as you watch the coordination.
She needs a lot of hand-eye. Her eyes should be closed and remember the sequence. Your feet are touching and now you know when you say, 'shifts/brakes' >> you can feel her foot move before she rolls the helmet back into the normal position, :throttle off: This way, she has her eyes closed, you feel it's worth a try in bed. If she wants the real thing, then go back and sit on the 4by w/dead engine. Say goodbye bedroom - better her then you throttling it.... Anyway, she needs to hand-brain-eye the bike first. Keep her off the bike and in bed until she gets its = STRAIGHT!!
