84 xv1000 low budget bobber work in process-bobber-1.jpg

this is my first build . i started with an 84 xv1000 original and complete, i always wanted to build a bobber and now is the time. i stripped the bike, completely welded closed the sub frame and added a access door for running wiring inside and fuse box, next i cut off and capped the back part of the frame, then i cut off all brackets that any electrical parts which mounted to frame except brakelight switch to give it a clean apperance, then powder coated black the frame and swing arm. next i made struts out of 5/8`s CR and mounting tube are sched. 40 1/2 tube reamed to 9/16`s then DA`d and powder coated, the fender is HD 6 inch flat cut off to 17.5 inch long, the tank i welded all openings on the bottom and drill a 1/2 hole to weld on a pipe reducer for adding the HD petcock, i then chemically cleaned and coated the inside to prevent any rust, the tank and fender is powder coated grey, with a motive on the tank is also powder coated black, that is something alot of painters say it can`t be done, hahahaha its a simple motive with a meaning. its a 4 leave clover and at the base of the stem is a diamond, the meaning ( little devil is a lucky charm thats a diampond in the rough). soon i`ll be starting on the motor which will have a single carb system and dual fishtail exhaust existing out above the rear wheel. the license plate holder i made out of 12ga po plate and powder coated it which is mounted to the axel, with maltese cross as taillight. i will update pictures as i go.....let me know what you all think about what ive done so far............
