VTR1000 Chopper

I bought this about 5 Years ago as a Scrapper and built it as it is now to go to the TT on.
I fitted a VFR Swingarm, modified the Rear Downpipes and used an R1 Seat unit.
It was once quite tidy but in 2006 I got knocked off it by a Chelsea Tracker and it was Mashed.
I roughly rebuilt it and just used it as a Daily Hack for a while but Shortly after I bought a 1200 Bandit
as Daily transport and this has sat in the Back Kitchen ever since.

The Bent Legs are the ones I Splatted in the crash and the new Stanchions are a 41mm Trail bike pair cheap off Ebay.
The plan is to turn down the Fork Tops off the VTR and fit them inside the Longer Stanchions with a Spacer tube in the top.
This way I can keep the standard Road Springs and still have Damper and Preload adjustment. The only Problem is, I would
have to take the top nuts off everytime I want to change it.

I made a basic Jig out of some box section.

These are a couple of VTR Chops I spotted at Burapa Bike Week in Thailand.
As far as I know, there haven't been many used for Chops. I don't expect it to be easy but it will be interesting.

I started dumping the cast offs on ebay last week and ordering some parts to keep me going.

I Stated making these Yokes a while ago for one of my Trikes but never finished them. They will be perfect for this Job.
I cut this Slab as best I could in a Chop Saw and started to work out some sizes for a set of Slabs.
I can't think of a faster way of doing this with the Tools I have, but if anyone has a better idea
I'm all ears??
I have never made Yokes before so this will be a learning curve.

Spent most of yesterday drilling holes and drinking Beer.
I got the Yokes separated after about 6 hours.

I want the Swing arm moved about 3" back and hopefully the new Forks and Yokes will be a little lower than these
but it gives me an idea of where I'm working.

I have got the Engine and Rear Wheel Bolted down and aligned, Forks have been assembled, Headstock turned for bearings, just waiting for a big piece of Stainless to make the Engine mounts and I can Start wrapping a Frame around it.
I suspect, I might have screwed up it's great handling?

Here a few Pictures for now. I did a load more but wasn't happy so it ended up in the Scrap bin. Got a new Plan for tomorrow night.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all your encouraging words. I've built a few VW Trikes but this is my first Bike build.

Slikvic:- Any of us can pick up a cataloque and order parts that will bolt straight on.
You will get more satisfaction when you ride that Bike than any Bike or Part you could have bought.
I don't know how it is in the States, but here in England the shed builders are dying out. All the mags are full of high end Billet Barges that are built to order by Shops or bought from catalogues. Fair play if that what you want.
I don't have the budget for farming work out to engineering firms so I try and find a way to get what I need and enjoy the process of getting there.
I have been working on this Bike for 3 Weeks now so I am a lot further on than what these Pictures show. It will take me a bit of time to get all the the Pictures loaded up so please bare with me.

I have got to say I was blown away by the comments you guys left. I was a little worries about joining an American forum incase you guys weren't fussed on Jap Bikes (to be honest, I'll build anything). Looking forward to wading through the masses of builds already posted on here.
Ride safe.
Chris
