Extreme makeover,,,1983 yamaha XJ750.
Alright,,,the time has come. I have changed things in the past but this time I am going all out. Fair warning,,,I aint rich,,,,and I never done this shit before,,,so this is going to be a slow going project (if anyone cares anyway) but I am going to do as much of it myself as I can. Im sure you all remember this abortion,,,,,
Well here is what it looks like right now,,,,,,
I am doing some research and getting opinions on making it a hardtail (those who have seen my thread in talk shop already seen this),,,,by inserting a bar something like this,,,,,

I kind of thought about doing a hardtail add on but I'm trying to get mine going as soon as possible and as cheap as possible. I'm kinda held up on what to do with the ass end on mine, shocks, steel struts, airbag??? Once I get that figured out I can mount the fender, then seat pan and so on. Right now just waiting on parts...

Looking at your seat tubes compared to mine, you can really drop your seat. You have alot more room there then I do. If I dropped my seat tubes I would be sitting in a V. Although I do like the way mine feels with the foot controls where they are and the height of the seat tubes compared with the height of the bike.

Hey there is a site where you can get great Yamaha help. There is a guy who goes byt he name Mr. Tidy and he does a shitload of stuff to them. He does mainly Roadstars and V-Stars but is a jap genious.
He has done fat tire mod's for $1100 including rims, does frame work and the best thing is he posts everything with step by step instructions which you can view or print.
